Scientific, bioinformatics and AI solutions for the life sciences. Singapore-based, founded in 2017. UEN 201712882Z.

Decoding biodiversity for health, food and the environment.

Whether it is a surveillance mandate, a discovery project or a business case, we design the study, analyse the data and advise on what to do next.

Nova Lifetech Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based bioinformatics consultancy founded in 2017. We deliver custom analysis of next-generation sequencing data: amplicon sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, genome assembly, transcriptomics and reproducible pipeline engineering, for academia and industry across Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific.

Focus areas

  • Bioeconomy & bioprospecting: Decoding biodiversity for health, food and the environment. Whether it is a surveillance mandate, a discovery project or a business case, we design the study, analyse the data and advise on what to do next. Examples: Natural products: Identify novel compounds for chemical ingredients; Bioeconomy: Transcriptomics to discover which functions create value; Bioprospecting: Shotgun metagenomics to uncover community function.
  • Plasmid & synthetic constructs: Verify every construct before you scale it. Full-length plasmid sequencing to confirm your design, catch errors and contamination, and move engineered strains forward with confidence. Examples: Construct verification: Confirm the full sequence of every construct; Variants and mutations: Detect point mutations, indels and mixed clones; Contamination: Catch mixed clones and contaminants before scale-up.
  • Food & agriculture: From farm to table, read in its DNA. Crop and livestock genomics, viruses and microbiomes, to protect yield, keep animals healthy and keep food safe. Examples: Animal health: Profile livestock and poultry microbiomes for health and growth; Fermentation: Characterise starter cultures and fermentation communities; Crop health: Profile soil and root microbiomes to protect yield.
  • Built environment & One Health: Who carries it, and how it spreads. Vector and host genomics for rodents, bats, insects and wild birds, alongside the microbes they carry, to trace transmission through neighbourhoods, buildings and the environment around them. Examples: Transmission: Link hosts, vectors and microbes to trace how an outbreak spread; Wild birds: Screen wild and migratory birds for the microbes they carry; Insect vectors: Identify species and insecticide resistance from DNA.
  • Human health: Host, pathogen and microbiome, read from the data. Thalassemia, host gene expression, small RNA, pathogens and the microbiome: we design the study, analyse the sequencing data and report what it means for human health. Examples: Thalassemia: Long-read calling of alpha and beta thalassemia deletions; mRNA: Profile mRNA to see how the host responds to disease; Small RNA: Small RNA and miRNA profiling for regulatory biomarkers.

What we do

  • Human, environmental and aquaculture microbiomes: Gut, pond, wastewater and soil communities: study design, 16S, ITS and shotgun profiling, pathogen and resistance-gene detection, and early-warning signals you can act on.
  • Technical consultation: Hands-on advice beyond the analysis: surveillance design, microbiology assessment, scientific writing and expert review.
  • Nova Microbiome Lab: Code-free cloud platform. Upload FASTQ, choose a reference and receive a publication-ready report.
